Johanna Rosa Armstrong much loved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.
My Grandmother finally lost her long battle with cancer on the 23rd December 2007. She was the strongest person I have ever known. She never let her illness effect her in any way and never complained even to the end. She was loving to her family, the most kind-hearted person you could meet.
Originally from Germany she met my Grandfather John after the Second World War and they married in 1947. She moved to Chesterfield without speaking much English (she had a mixture of German and Derbyshire accent which was funny especially with Y's and J's). She had 5 children one of which is mentally handicapped and she looked after her until she was too ill help her.
When I was a child and my parents had to work she would look after me, spoiling me rotten.
She suffered a slipped disc in her back which affected her mobility but she didn't let this hinder her in any way. She also had a hip replacement operation later on again she never complained. Later she would suffer a stroke which for her was frustrating as she couldn't communicate well but this improved with time. She had been suffering from cancer for many years but was determined to fight on, she cared for her family too much to give in. One of her proudest moments came when she received a card from the Queen congratulating her on reaching her 60th Wedding Anniversary in October 2007.
After this occasion her health deteriorated and she also received the news that her sister had died in Germany. She passed away peacefully in Ashgate Hospice at 6.20pm on Sunday the 23rd December 2007. Gone but not forgotten.
Farewell Grandma until we meet again.

We'll Never Say Goodbye
I cannot see you with my eyes
Or hear you with my ears,
But thoughts of you are with me still
And often dry my tears.
You whisper in the rustling leaves
That linger in the fall,
And in the gentle evening breeze,
I'm sure I hear you call.
A part of you remains with me
That none can take away;
It gives me strength to carry on
At dawning of each day.
I think of happy times we shared
And then I softly sigh,
But this I know--we'll meet again
And never say good-bye.

4th Angel Day
Cannot believe it's been 4 years since you passed. This day is always sad but also a time to reflect on the good things that you said or did in life. These memories are cherished and will stay with me until we meet again.

Sights And Sounds of Bonfire Night
Since Guy Fawkes' time, our bonfire nights
Have been bewitched by sounds and sights.
They represent his punishment
For plotting against parliament.
The prancing, dancing flames of fire
Excitedly rise higher and higher,
Tripping, skipping in the air
Raining hot ash everywhere.
The wailing, trailing rockets fly
Attention seeking in the sky
While shooting, scooting, left and right
Explosively display their might.
The whirling, twirling Catherine wheel
Then orbits with a piercing squeal,
Sprinkling twinkling stars around
Which fall like moon-dust on the ground.
Then all at once, the silence falls
And once again the night-time calls
Normal life again resumes
The memory lingers, with the fumes.

Memories
Memories are heartbeats
Sounding through the years
Echoes never fading
Of our smiles and tears.
Moments that are captured
Sometimes unaware
Pictured in an album
Or a lock of hair.
Images that linger
Deep within the mind
Bit of verse we cherished
Once upon a time.
Through the musty hallways
Of the days we knew
Ever comes the vision
Beautiful and true.
Memories are roses
Blooming evermore
Full of fragrant sweetness
Never known before.
Life must have a meaning
Goals for which to strive
Memories are lights that burn
To keep the heart alive.

I'll Paint You A Rainbow
I'll paint you a rainbow to hang on the wall,
to brighten your heart when the gray shadows fall.
On a canvas of joy outlasting the years,
with a soft brush of sweetness to dry all your tears.
I'll paint you a rainbow with colors of smiles
That glow with sincerity over the miles.
On a palette of words I will tenderly blend
Tones into treasures of sunlight and wind.
I'll paint you a rainbow that reaches so wide,
Your sights and your sorrows will vanish inside,
And deep in the center of each different hue,
A memory fashioned especially for you.
So lift up your eyes, for suspended above,
A rainbow designed by the fingers of love...

I'll Be With You Always
I'll be with you always
Until we met again
I'll be there, when you need me
Every day till then
I'll be with you always
Just one step away
My body may have left you
But my spirit will always stay
I'll be with you always
In sunshine and in rain
Feeling pleasure in you laughter
And sorrow in your pain
And I'll be with you always
To help and guide you through
Until we meet at the gates of heaven
I'll walk lifes path with you..

am a tiny angel ...
I'm smaller than your thumb;
I live in people pockets,
That's where I have my fun.
I don't suppose you've seen me,
I'm too tiny to detect;
Though I'm with you all the time,
I doubt we've ever met.
Before I was an Angel ...
I was a fairy in a flower;
God, Himself, hand-picked me,
And gave me Angel power.
Now God has many Angels
That He trains in Angel pools;
We become His eyes, and ears, and
hands ... We become His special tools.
And because God is so busy,
With way too much to do;
He said that my assignment
Was to keep close watch on you.
Then He tucked me in your pocket,
Blessing you with Angel care;
Saying I must never leave YOU,
And I vowed to stay right there!

..I fly with Angels
დ⋆⋆⋆დ⋆⋆⋆დ
Sometimes i wish
That i could fly
Through the clouds
And bright blue sky
დ⋆⋆⋆დ⋆⋆⋆დ
For i would knock
On Heavens door
For just a glimpse
Of you once more
დ⋆⋆⋆დ⋆⋆⋆დ
Fly with Angels
Through the night
Touch the moon
And stars so bright
დ⋆⋆⋆დ⋆⋆⋆დ
A million tears
When we say good-bye
For in my dreams
We fly so high
დ⋆⋆⋆დ⋆⋆⋆დ
The sweetest dream
I have most nights
I fly with Angels
And its pure delight
